EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) is a business excellence framework used by companies across the European Union. It can be compared with MBNQA which is used by companies in the USA.
The EFQM Excellence Model has 9 elements - 5 "Enablers" and 4 "Results". The 'Enablers' mean what an organization must do and the 'Results' mean what an organization must achieve. Based on where an organization stands against these 9 elements or criteria, the capability and performance of an organization can be characterized.
The key premise of EFQM is that the "Results" are caused by the "Enablers" and the "Enablers" improve continually based on the feedback received from the "Results" achieved. The 9 elements are given below:
Enablers
1. Leadership
2. People
3. Policy and Strategy
4. Partnerships and Resources
5. Processes
Results
6. Key Performance Results
7. People Results
8. Customer Results
9. Society Results
