SA 8000

SA 8000 is a standard governing social accountability of organizations. It provides guidelines for ensuring decent working conditions to the employees of a company but also the employees of its suppliers.

SA 8000 was developed and is overseen by Social Accountability International (SAI). Detailed guidance for implementing SA 8000 and auditing the Social Accountability System (SAS) are available on SAI's website.

SAI has contracted with Social Accountability Accreditation Services (SAAS), which is a global accreditation agency that licenses and oversees auditing organizations to award certification to employers that comply with SA8000.
