MS-Excel is truly a powerful tool. After having used it for so many years, here's what I think makes it truly useful and all-powerful:
1. Easy to learn and use
2. Highly flexible and customizable
3. So many features such that something is there for almost all kinds of situations
4. Can be used for both simple and complicated calculations - logical, mathematical, statistical, etc.
5. Excellent charting capabilities
6. Can be used as a database as well
7. Can be integrated with other MS-Office applications easily, using OLE (Object Linking and Embedding)
8. Can be used to automate repetitive tasks, using macro programming in VBA (Visual Basic for Applications)
