Business Process Improvement

Business Process Improvement or BPI is the constant analysis of the Business Process to determine opportunities for improvement. For succeeding in business, it is important to try to get better at what one is doing, improving bit by bit, every day.

Here are the typical steps in improving business processes:

1. Collect data and analyze the data to understand how is the process behaving w.r.t. the expected results. Even if the process is behaving in accordance with the expectations, improvement opportunities can still be identified.

2. Investigate the causes (preferably root causes) to understand the process behavior

3. Determine factors that influence the process behavior. Conduct what if analysis to find how change to certain factors can improve the process performance

4. Articulate the action items and set the ball rolling
