Focus means spending one's energy in a well-thought out manner.
If there is a lack of focus, one would fritter away one's energy in several pursuits, many irrelevant, without realising what one wants to achieve.
Focus is crucial for any business organization to do well.
Why is that so?
Here are some thoughts to consider:
So well that the business organization creates a hard-to-beat competitive egde over its competition, both near and far.
Some organizations, especially those that are run by a pack of "yes sir", loyal-to-the-core clowns reporting into the top dog, turn themselves into a big mess due to lack of focus.
When the top dog says something, the clowns would always say - "yes sir".
Since no one has the courage to say "no", every idea is taken up.
In such organizations usually no discussion takes place on the amount of energy and effort available, other ideas that are work-in-progress, the relative importance of the ideas put up for consideration.
Chaos ensues in such organizations.
People are abruptly pulled from one area and put into another.
The clowns, who are absolutely unprofessional and unethcal to the core do all kinds of nonsense.
They pull a person out from a team without even informing the department head.
As the clown is a loyalist of the top dog, they together decide and do what they wish to.
And the department head is only informed about this when he meets the clown in a meeting that the department head himself had set-up.
A very painful question - would the clown inform the concerned department head otherwise?
The answer is obviously no. Loyal clowns own no one any explanation!
Professionalism and ethics can go to hell!
As an aside, this also means the organization is no more than a lala company!
Such an organization will do anything.
It will take up any project that comes its way.
It will indulge in and organize all kinds of events and meetings and initiatives.
Even when many of the events and meetings and initiatives are a sheer wastage of precious energy and effort.
Lack of focus in such organizations is a direct result of lack of leadership skills in the top dog and the clowns (otherwise, respectfully referred to as top management).
The lack of focus percolates down below to all levels of the organization.
The organization as a whole looks like lost in the woods. Trying this and then trying something else and then something else.
There is no strategy, no game plan.
There is no focus. And that could be very very dangerous!

Focus is crucial for any business organization to do well.
Why is that so?
Here are some thoughts to consider:
- Every organization has limited amount of energy and effort in terms of money it can spend, employees that work for it and the infrastructure it owns
- No organization can work upon every idea that comes its way even if all of them are brilliant ideas (due to the constraint imposed by the above point)
- If an organization tries to do several things beyond the amount of energy and effort it has at its disposal it will either fail to follow many of them through till the very end or do all of them but with effectiveness that will be much lesser than what would be the desired level
